Pyxis, Inc., a community-based human services organization with headquarters in Wichita, KS announced today that it has concluded the process for opening and office and providing its services in the Austin area. The company recently finalized several contracts to provide mental health services in the Capital Area and has plans to integrate services from its other divisions in the near future. The company projects that more than 20 jobs will be added throughout the year to support its operations.
In addition to its Mental Health division, Pyxis also provides Juvenile Justice, Workforce Development, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Family Preservation services throughout Kansas and Virginia. In 2010, the company announced a new division, Business Navigation, offering consulting services to other mid-sized companies interested in growth and innovative solutions.
Nickie Harlan, State Program Manager for the Austin office, has already begun hiring additional staff to satisfy the referrals that have started to come in.
“I feel incredibly blessed & excited to be a part of the expansion into Texas by Pyxis. I look forward to leading the Pyxis effort in the Austin-Travis County area and joining with other community partners as we work together to help those that we have such a heart to serve.”
Pyxis’ Mental Health offerings include primarily behavioral health services such as pro-social skills acquisition groups, behavioral aides, life skills training, day camp, and after school supports targeted toward youth and adolescents diagnosed with severe emotional disorders. The company has plans to develop its services throughout the Midwest and South-Central regions but is excited about beginning its expansion with Texas. Pyxis also has offices established in Virginia. The corporate office is located in downtown Wichita, KS. In the past, the company provided services in Missouri and North Carolina, as well.
